This image encourages the viewer into its inner spaces. In the words of Melodee Martin Ramirez, juror for the Viewpoints 2007 show in which this piece was awarded third place: “The glow in this print is like a magnet, a ‘going within’ into the circle of life … the free form abstraction in golds and browns surrounding the pulsating heart of this piece”This is a single plate etching, aquatint, Sharpie marker, and viscosity roll. The outer layer of color was applied to the plate a la poupee. The image is 8-3/4 by 11-3/4 inches. This is a monoprint and there is no edition. There is another image, called Going Within in Red and Yellow, that does not have the outer layer of color but is otherwise the same.
